Despite Some Reports, Android Still Demolishing the Competition
Despite some reports floating around the internet that Android market share is sliding, and the iOS 5 is going to be the nail in the coffin for Android, a report put out by Millennial Media shows that Android is crushing all competition in the smartphone field.
Although the iPhone is the #1 device (which is skewed because there are 4 different iPhones in that one percentage), Android holds 16 of the top 20 spots for smartphones, and the original Droid has climbed its way up to #3. Total market share for Android devices is 54%, with the next closest being iOS at a paltry 26%. In addition, Google announced that their daily activations have reached 550,000. That is over half a million new Android devices being activated every single day.
