Verizon Changes it's Mind Again; Droid 2 Global Gingerbread "Available Soon"
Verizon Changes it's Mind Again; Droid 2 Global Gingerbread "Available Soon"
After all the run around with Verizon and Motorola and their Gingerbread problems, there is a slight ray of hope for the disappointed Droid 2 Global owners who were promised an update 2 weeks ago and never received one. In a recent Verizon training document, it is noted that Android 2.3 will be available for the D2G "soon after the Droid 3 launch".
This makes a little bit of sense, as the vanillia Droids have always been Moto's flagships when introducing new versions of Android to new handsets. The Droid 1 was the first to ship with 2.0, Droid 2 first to ship with 2.2, and at this point the Droid 3 may very well be the first to ship with 2.3. It will apparently also be shipping with a new version of Blur, which is said to be causing the majority of the problems that are delaying 2.3 for other devices. With the Droid 3 launch fast approaching, hopefully I'll be able to breath some new life into my D2G to pull it through the end of the year when my last New Every 2 upgrade is.
